Lip Fillers in North York

Lip fillers in North York, injected by an Aesthetic Medicine Specialist with 26+ years of experience. Elham Aesthetic Art provides lip filler at our clinic on Finch Avenue West, for clients across North York, Toronto, Vaughan, Thornhill and Richmond Hill. We use hyaluronic acid fillers, which are gradual, adjustable and reversible — and we plan for balance with the rest of your face rather than for volume on its own.

Consultations are unhurried, every treatment is planned in person, and new clients receive 10% off their first appointment.

  • Natural-looking by default — we would rather under-fill and review than overfill
  • Reversible — hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if you change your mind
  • Injected by the specialist, never delegated to a technician
  • Back to normal the same day for most people, with swelling settling over a few days

What lip filler actually does

Lip filler is hyaluronic acid — a gel made from a substance your body already produces and already holds in your skin. It is placed into the lip in small amounts to do one of three quite different jobs, and knowing which one you actually want is most of the consultation.

Hydration and softening. A very small amount spread through the body of the lip improves texture and the fine vertical lines around the mouth, without meaningfully changing lip size. This is what most people mean when they say they want their lips to look like they did ten years ago.

Definition. Product placed along the vermillion border sharpens the outline and lifts a border that has flattened with age. Again, this changes shape rather than volume.

Volume. Product placed in the body of the lip makes the lip fuller. This is the one people worry about, and it is the one where restraint matters most: the aim is a lip that suits your mouth, your teeth and the rest of your face, not a lip that announces itself.

Most treatment plans use a combination, weighted toward whichever of the three your face actually needs. That judgement is the part that takes 26 years to learn, and it is why treatment here is planned and injected by the specialist rather than handed to a technician.

Your appointment, start to finish

A first lip appointment takes about 45 to 60 minutes, and only a few minutes of that is injecting.

StageHow longWhat happens
Consultation15–20 minYour medical history, what you want changed, and an assessment of lip proportion against the rest of your face. If lip filler is not the right answer, you are told so here.
Numbing15–20 minTopical numbing cream. Most hyaluronic acid lip fillers also contain lidocaine, so comfort improves further as treatment begins.
Treatment10–15 minProduct placed in small increments, with the lip assessed between each. You are shown a mirror before the appointment ends.
Immediately after—Some swelling straight away. You can go back to your day; most people avoid anything public-facing for the first evening.
Review2–4 weeksOnce swelling has fully settled, the result is reviewed and a small top-up added if the plan calls for it.

Swelling, bruising and how long it lasts

Lips swell more than anywhere else on the face, and they swell immediately. For the first 24 to 48 hours your lips will look larger than the result you are going to keep — this is expected, and it is the single most common reason people worry after treatment.

Most of the swelling settles within three to five days. The final result is what you see at about two weeks, which is why any adjustment is made then and not before.

Bruising is possible because the lip is rich in blood vessels. It is usually small and easily covered, but plan the appointment at least two weeks before anything important.

How long it lasts: most people keep a lip result for six to twelve months. Lips metabolise filler faster than most areas of the face, so the first treatment often lasts a little less than the ones that follow.

For 24 hours afterwards

  • Keep lipstick and lip products off the treated area
  • No sauna, steam room or intense exercise
  • Avoid alcohol, which increases both swelling and bruising
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised on the first night
  • Do not massage or press the lips unless you are told to
  • Cool compresses are fine; ice directly on the skin is not

Who lip filler suits — and who it does not

A good fit if you

  • Want a change that reads as rested rather than as treated
  • Have lost definition or fullness gradually with age
  • Want the option to build up slowly across two appointments
  • Are reassured by a filler that can be dissolved if you change your mind
  • Can leave two weeks between treatment and any major event

Treatment is deferred or declined if you

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have an active cold sore — treatment waits, and a history of cold sores is discussed beforehand
  • Have an active infection or inflamed skin around the mouth
  • Have had a dental procedure in the past two weeks, or have one booked shortly
  • Are looking for a result that would not suit your facial proportions

This list is a guide, not a screening tool. Your full medical history, medications and any previous filler are reviewed at consultation before anything is agreed.

What lip filler costs

Cost is confirmed at your consultation, because it depends on how much product your plan actually needs — and for a first lip treatment that is often less than people expect. We do not publish a headline price, because a per-syringe figure tells you very little before anyone has looked at your lips.

What you will be told at consultation is the total for the plan being recommended, before anything is agreed. New clients receive 10% off their first appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Not if the plan is built properly. The most common cause of an obvious result is too much product placed too quickly, which is why treatment here is staged: a conservative first appointment, then a review at two weeks where more can be added if it is genuinely needed. You cannot take product out easily on the day, but you can always add at the review.

It is uncomfortable rather than painful for most people. Topical numbing cream is applied for 15 to 20 minutes beforehand, and most hyaluronic acid lip fillers contain lidocaine, so the lip becomes progressively more numb as treatment goes on. The first injection is the one you feel most.

Usually six to twelve months. Lips move constantly and metabolise filler faster than most other areas, so a first lip treatment often lasts a little less than subsequent ones. How quickly it breaks down also depends on your own metabolism and how much product was placed.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is one of the main reasons it is the material used for lips. It is not something we expect to need, but it is available, and knowing the option exists is what makes a first treatment easier to commit to.

Most people go straight back to their day. Your lips will be swollen for the first 24 to 48 hours and may look fuller than the final result, so if you have something public-facing that evening it is worth moving the appointment. Leave two weeks before a wedding, a photograph or a major event.

Bring what you know — the product used, how much, and when. Previous filler affects how your lips will respond and where new product should sit, and an honest history makes for a better plan. If a previous result needs correcting before anything new is added, that is discussed at consultation.

Both, and they are often assessed together. Lines above the lip, a downturned mouth corner or flattening of the chin all change how the lip itself reads. Sometimes the best result for a lip concern involves treating around it rather than in it. The full range of areas is covered on our dermal filler page.
